Single Review: Palindrones - The Blood Moon

Do you wish to sip cocktails at the beach on a moonlit night, casually dancing away your cares with your friends?

Well do I have a perfect track for you!

Palindrones blesses us with the new single 'The Blood Moon.'

Palindrones is an emotionally immersive, captivating, dark electronic duo from South London. They take listeners on a shimmering and cathartic sonic journey with dreamy Industrial Synthpop, infused with pounding rhythms, haunting, evocative vocals and esoteric ambiance.

Hello friends,

We're excited to share our new single, a dark, hypnotic journey through the tides, storms, sin and submission. The Blood Moon is a tale of the cycles of destruction, renewal and the ancient currents that flow beneath human experience. Like the celestial body that gives the song its name, it pulls listeners into a world where scars become constellations, rivers run red, and every ending delivers the seed of creation.

Immerse yourself in the bloody sea. The Blood Moon releases Friday 12th of June!

Review

Starting off with a distant Siren call over calm waves creating a sense of peace and tranquillity to then let the electro beat drop surprise the listener - 'The Blood Moon' is off to a great start!

What stands out even more than the drop is the lyrical poetry of this song..

And hither delivered, the face of a sinner, As the storm delivers the rain to the seed, And hither delivered, a face all a'glimmer As the seed delivers the root to the tree. The moon delivers, the tide to the seas Blood keeps flowing endlessly The moon delivers, the tide to the sea And bloody rivers flowing free.

The chorus of 'And hither delivered' is punchy enough for a crowd to sing back to, and fits the dance tempo of the track perfectly - with said tempo very reminiscent of early 2000's EDM as well as trance. In fact it makes me reminisce on the DJ Tiesto prime days. It genuinely makes you want to move your body whilst sipping cocktails at sundown, greeting the rising Moon.

Though in truth I would specifically call this something a bit new in terms of genre..

Industrial melodic techno?

or

Alternative Melodic house Techno?

In another sense I get a thought of.. is this what Madonna would have sounded like if she was industrial orientated? With the lyrics and imagery of the music video being very Animistic and pagan in nature.. Well.. I'm a very happy pagan bopping along to it at least.

Conclusion

When we think of 'perfect summer songs' we often think of people singing about sunshine and love.

Maybe for us Goth types a more relevant version of this would be songs that keep us bopping away on a beach all night long under a full (Blood) Moon.

That is precisely what Palindrones has created with

'The Blood Moon'.

A chillout electro track with all the right hooks of alternative music that get us smiling.

Beautiful work!

Thank you!
